It's Your Life, Whatcha Gonna Do?

Hey ya'll, it's been a while since I have written out a truly personal post. Several reasons for this.

1) We have had back to back family visits. Nothing makes me happier than having my family around so I have been devoting my attention to them. It has been a blasty; more to come on that soon!

B) If you aren't a big football fan you wouldn't know it BUT college football season is now officially underway. Meaning? Practice has officially started and my one-on-one husband time has now officially become precious to me for the next few months. Its all official.

Thirdly) I have been hunting for a job/career since we have moved out here and it has been seriously beyond grueling. I was really excited about the prospect of starting a new job after my most recent interview (which I was told went so well they called me "inspirational" after I left) only to get passed up. The confidence starts to take a beating for sure. It kind of amazes me how much of my identity has always been sewed up in what I "do" for a living.

This has been a pretty touchy topic for me of late, and so I decided what I needed to do was to hunker down and FOCUS. I am usually a very goal-oriented person but I felt my big picture life goals were a little fuzzy now that I'm a whole new married version of me. So, I created what one might call a "vision board." That is actually a term from THE SECRET (which is in caps because it is a bit CREEPY), but even though I haven't read/watched THE SECRET I think the idea makes sense.

How can you achieve what you want in life without a clear picture in mind of what you're moving towards? Get it, picture? Yea... anyhow, here is a tiny version of my vision board.

I am really excited to use it as a reminder of where I want my life to go and what I want to focus on. Sorry if the use of terms from THE SECRET rubbed you the wrong way. Don't hold it against me, I'm still the same old G! Hope to tell you soon all about the fun new directions my life is taking.

totally know how you feel! i went on over 10 interviews once jake and i moved to austin and the no's were really defeating. i think two of the things that really helped me were exercising (to release the stress of it all) and meditating in the morning before i started hunting again. perhaps these tips might help you get through the days? wishing you the best of luck (finger crossed)!

Good luck with your hunting, I know it's hard to get passed up but it just means it wasn't the right job for you and an EVEN BETTER one is going to come along!

I am praying for your job situation. Just remember that God has a plan for you and your life, including your job (Jeremiah 29:11) and you followed Him when you came to Florida and He will continue to lead you in the right path :-)
