Ahhh Weddings

As you all well know, this blog started as a dedication to all things wedding related and as I am now almost 1.5 years deep into my wonderful marriage (OMG where the hell does the time go?!) I haven't had a "need" for all of that wedding kerfuffle.

Well... folks, there's just something so magical about weddings. I seriously love them. The romance, the design, the SHOPPING... Snippet and Ink, one of my all time favorite wedding blogs ever, just embodies everything I love about weddings. Kathryn Storke Grady writes that beautiful blog and she just did a guest post on Etsy about fall weddings that made me want to plan mine all over again: in the fall. Here is one of her inspirations that I think most closely matches up with my style.


Beautiful, no? I just MIGHT buy an item or two from her Etsy selections... In fact, i just did. Ooops. Its never too soon to start planning an anniversary party, right? Some of my favs:




I think I have steered clear of blogging about weddings as a post-bride blogger for fear of seeming like the old washed up cheerleader who stands on the side of the high school football field embarrassing everyone by doing the cheer hand gestures along with the teenagers. Like, leave some things to the kids, you know? But I think screw it, I am too in love with this stuff to not indulge a little. If anyone needs some help designing their wedding, I think you know where to turn.

Romantic Wedding Picnic Inspiration

What inspires and intrigues me about weddings is the level of creativity and personality they can display. It's sort of like a long, fun assignment. You are given a set of traditional tasks to prepare for (IE: ceremony decor, reception seating, cake cutting, bouquets) and then you apply your own style and snap to each task.

I suppose the same concept applies to dressing ourselves and our homes, but there is something so magical about bringing to life the love you feel for your partner visually in all facets of one special day.

How inviting would this be for guests? The mood is perfectly set, this isn't expensive or over the top, its just thoughtful and sweet, what a wedding should be. Love love love.

I'm such a romantic sucker. If I could replan our wedding I wouldn't because it was the absolute most perfect day of my life. BUT, its so fun to see the creativity out there and daydream, and of course to attend the well-thought-out weddings of friends!

DIY Detail: Wedding Cake and Favor Tables

During our wedding planning, we made every attempt to craft the details of our special day ourselves. As fate would have it, I fancy myself a crafty person so sewing tablecloths for our cake table and favor table was a fun little project for me. I also love the splash of coral that these tablecloths brought to our photos.



While doing too many DIY projects can easily overwhelm any bride, sewing these was pretty basic and didn't take much effort. That said, the benefit of knowing I made these myself and getting to use them again after the wedding was a HUGE benefit in relation to the minimal effort.


We had a bit of a leaning-tower-of-cake issue (and that was really only the beginning of our cake issues, but let's not get me started), but we thoroughly enjoyed the whole cutting and shoving cake in each other's mouths bit of the recetion. To. The. Max.

And that pound cake with strawberries and cream was GOOOOD too. :)

Gorgeous Coral and Green Real Wedding

You all know I am not only a sucker for green and coral colored weddings but also anything with big fat lucious peonies. So, though it takes a lot for me to melt enough over another blog's real wedding post to share it here (this one is via Ruffled), this one hits pretty much everyone one of my heart strings.

The colors, the flowers, the signage, the romance and the carefreeness... Just enjoy the heck out of it, wouldya?!

Big Corally Pink Peonie Wedding Bouquets

There are few things that make me want to plan another wedding. Mostly because ours was so special and also because it was very "us." BUT... every now and then I do come across some images on the ol' net that really make my heart hurt with full blooded wedding lust.

That being said (and I absolutely adored our wedding flowers) these here giant pink peonies make me want to redo our entire shindig. Possibly its just the place coral florals holds in the soft spot of my heart... but more likely its just because these flowers are AMAZING.

It's OK if you cried a little... just pretend you had to sneeze, I won't tell.

DIY Detail: Etsy Ring Bowl by Paloma's Nest

One of the most personalized elements of our wedding that we did not make ourselves was our Paloma's Nest ring bowl. You may have seen these in Martha Stewart Weddings, or on any number of wedding blogs, and we totally heart them.

If you personalize one of these, they aren't exactly cheap. We debated whether it was worth the dollar bills for something that would be used and barely seen for all of 30 seconds. But you see, the hubs and I are major Christmas freaks, and this here ring bowl officially turns into an Xmas tree ornament as soon as the wedding is over.

We. Were. Sold.

You can personalize the bowls with as much or as little word magic as your heart desires. Jonathon and I did not use the ever-present 1 Corinthians 13 "love quote" during our wedding ceremony but we still wanted to incorporate those perfect sentiments of what love truly is into our wedding in a more subtle way. Thus, our patience, kindness, faith, hope, love ring bowl. I know its hard to see in the pic, but there is also a little stamp of a house and then the word home at the bottom.

I'm about to get all corny on you so if you're squeamish look away... but all of those words in one way or another mean to us, trust. To me, that is the most essential part of my friendship, love and marriage with my hubs and I am so glad to have the keepsake to remind me what's truly important in this crazy life.

Did I mention it is gold-plated? Christmas status!
