Fall 2010: 90's Fashion Flash Back Attack

Have you guys noticed it yet? The 90's are fighting their way back into fashion of late. Not the 90's grunge look so much as the 90's reinterpretation of the 70's look.

Did I lose you? Think Blossom meets Clarissa Explains it All meets Clueless with a bit more modern thrown in and you've pretty much got the look down pat.

It looks a little something like this meets this...

I'm not sure how I feel about this on the whole as it reminds me ENTIRELY too much of elementary school, but it is also tres fall-inspired and I am loving the changing seasons right now. Here are the top 4 trends moving this look forward.

#1) The bodysuit is back... no, seriously.

#2) Choker? I don't even know her! This ain't your fifth grade choker, add some chunky beads and you're there.
#3) The color maroon (also known as Ox-Blood... gross).
{via DKNY}
#4) Blossom Hats. I think this one is self-explanatory. Right?
#5) Oversized 90's menswear inspiration for the ladies.
What do you all think of the 20 year leap of the 70s inspired 90's look we've got going on this fall?

The good news is... This makes the 90's not seem so bad. I dig this new direction.

Oh boy. Not sure it's really for me! I was actually in high school in the 90s so it's a little too close for comfort. Plus it's so recent that it just seems dated to me.

Not so sure... I've never been a fan of 90's fashion. But if done well I think I could like it.

I love the chokers-don't-even-know -hers..... but the rest, not so much.
But that poor girl in the lace bodysuit needs to see a doctor about her scoliosis.
Also, it's just hard to imagine those fall fashions and colors while we are still having a heat wave.
Interesting for me to see what's coming this autumn- thanks for the preview!!

Thanks for the insight guys! I am a HUGE fan of fall fashion so I am kind of loving this look although I totally agree it is a bit too recent for comfort. I especially love the chunky chokers and big cozy overcoats. Bring on fall!

Hmmm. I must not be too much of a fashionista, I guess. I still love timeless classics best. Give me trench coats, pencil skirts, knee-high boots, and I'm happy.

Also, those chokers look like something my 5-year-old would make in arts and crafts for me in school for Mother's Day. Ohhhh, it's sooooo beautiful, honey!!
