Engagement Photo Shoot at LA Farmer's Market

The Original Los Angeles Farmer's Market has so much color and character, we knew we had to go there for part of our engagement shoot. Once we got there, however, we were a little overwhelmed by how busy it was, which, obviously we should have thought of before hand seeing as how the Farmer's Market is attached to the Grove and it was a Sunday a few weekends before Christmas... Duh.

I'm so glad we didn't ixnay this location though, as it has sentimental value to Jonathon and I, and because the pics we got here were some of our absolute favorites of the bunch. We definitely did get stares and random comments from passers-by, but it was all part of the fun. Josh and Ariel of Anika London could not have been more wonderful about dealing with the mayhem and steady stream of people, and we all had a really great time goofing off.

If you live in LA, you HAVE to go to the Farmer's Market, take a stroll and then gorge yourself on Brazilian food by the pound at Pampas Grill. Loteria Mexican food is also awesome, and there are a million other delicious spots from crepes to ice cream. The Farmer's Market is really one of our favorite things about Los Angeles. Pie! Pie! More Pie!

Ya'll know my love for pie of all varieties. I do not discriminate. (Except pecan, that's just disgusting). So you can imagine the thrill that went through my fluttering heart at the sight of these beauties.

How flipping cute are these pies in a jar? How good would they be as favors at the wedding of someone with the nickname Pie? No, I'm not kidding thats what my dad has called me my entire life, I have no idea why I swear...

Anyone want to get baking? I have a pretty full plate as it is already. See what I did there?! Full plate, get it???!!!

LA Holidaze

Last weekend my mummy and brother took Jonathon and I out for a night on the town. It was really my kind of day and night. We went shopping, ate a lot and sang carols! J bought his beautiful Allen Edmond split toe shoes for the wedding and a really lovely crisp white button-down for under his suit and Natey got his suit for the wedding (as previously seen here on Becoming Mrs. Ford). I really love shopping for other people with them and letting the opinions fly... I was in shopping heaven.

After all that retail therapy we went out for a yumtastic Italian meal worth writing home about. If you are from LA or just visiting, you really really need to do yourself a solid and go to C&O Trattoria or Cucina (there's two and both are off the hizzy). The killer garlic rolls are meal one, the appetizers are meal two, the Chianti is meal three, and the entrees are next days lunch. SERIOUSLY YUM.

We were a little bit stoked.

I'm not sure if you knew this or not but... We're engaged.

As a daughter, I see it as my duty to really crack my mom up every chance I get. Not because I like to give her something to smile about, but because when she really gets laughing it is the funniest thing anyone has ever seen. She absolutely can not stop. It looks painful, and the harder she laughs the harder she has to laugh... Feast your eyes:

At the KCRW Christmas Sing-A-Long where we got to rock out with several quit good and quit famous celebrities including Christopher Guest, Jane Lynch, and Weird Al! Heck yea!

Oh man we had a great time. This is what happens when you drink Chianti, sing and dance to Christmas carols for hours, and then ask your brother to take a photo of you and your fiance...

Yum Sticks

I don't know if it's just all of the pink in this pic or what, but how cute is this Stir-stick DIY project? Loves it.

Cake Tasting Mmmmmm!

That's what we did anyway. So that you can pretend you were enjoying all of this bounty along with us, that's white cake, marble cake, chocolate cake, carrot cake and pound cake you see along with (clockwise starting at 12:05) custard, chocolate buttercream, cream cheese frosting, vanilla buttercream, fudge filling, lemon filling, strawberry filling, and raspberry filling.


I was pretty excited about it.


It looked almost too good to eat.


Almost.


But apparently I am marrying a cake monster.


Or maybe his face just froze in that position.


The aftermath! Theresa brought us even MORE cake and fresh fruit. Can you tell which we liked the best? Oh, how our bellies hurt after. Did I mention it was 10 in the morning? Never too early for cake, right Rachel?! :)

Beautiful Simple Wedding

The details of this wedding are just beautiful. There are a lot of lovely real wedding posts out there but most of them are just pretty to look at.

This one from Snippet&Ink was very inspiring for me because it has a lot of elements that we are trying to incorporate into our own big day. For example, the white poms in this pic... I bought those already! Thank you Martha Stewart...


Also, how gorgeous is this bouquet? I can't get enough of those all-one-amazing-flower bouquets, but I think I want to include several shades of pinks and oranges into my own.


Check out this dudes tan three-piece with a celedon-green tie! Yes, I do like it (maybe not those cuffs though, right?). And is that a ban.do belt I see? Sharp looking couple.


Sweet and simple lemonade vats and all-white cake! Love love love.

Pie Sticks

If you are like me and can shove a whole pie in your mouth whenever the opportunity presents itself... well... let me just say, you may want to have some alone time with yourself and drift off to your happy place whilst reading this post.

Paletas Por Favor

Ok, so I know we aren't getting married in Mexico, but can you think of much better than sipping a margarita as the sun sets on a hot day surrounded by palm trees and luminarias?

The Bride's Guide Blog may have answered that question today in the form of paletas! What a freaking genius idea. Not only are Cucumber-chili and Mexican-papaya popsicles delicious, but they also complement our color palette most perfectly. Thank you Darcy Miller for being such a great wedding guru.
