Thumbprint Family Tree

Still trying to incorporate some semblance of a family tree into our wedding. This blank tree version that guests "leaf their thumprint" on is really adorable. Not sure it's quite what I had in mind but it's a great alternative...

One of my bridesmaids, Aimee, recently sent me a link to Regretsy and we had an hour long gigglefest over the hilarity showcased on that site (Hello Michael Jackson catnip toy with before and after MJ faces on each side. Who doesn't need that?). I think she sent it because she knows I love all things crafty and handmade, but I am also sceptical of the ridiculous prices and the not-so-artisanness of some of the finds on Etsy.

That being said, I am pretty much vying for each and every item from Esty seller Little White Dresser. I know nothing of hers would ever end up on Regretsy.

From 100layercake, more hanky invitations that are beyond amazing. I don't think I have time to deal with these at this point but oh how my heart yearns to.

And from GreenWeddingShoes this gorgeous farm wedding is so swoon-worthy you should really take a look. I love her bouquet, and his tan vest with grey suit is a definite idea to steal. I also particularly liked this adorable "events" sheet for guests.

Good Invitations Hunting

Some days I think, "this thing is totally under control, we are smooth sailing til the big day." Then, there are days like today when I wake up and think "oh crap, there are only a few months to go and two of those months are holiday months and after Christmas everything on the to-do-list is going to be a tidal wave STOP PROCRASTINATING and get to work now!!!!

So, I got to work. One of the things that I have been hemming an hawing about that needs to be decided asap is the invites. We are going to mail them in January and I just know that if I don't have a strategic plan, it could end up a stressful situation.

We do have some "back-up plan" invites but I am not in love with them and they require some graphic design skills from me and some printing skills from elsewhere. So, I am starting a quest to find decently priced, expressive invitations that require no work. Let's see what we find...

They are all very different, but I think it's clear I like flowers, right? I am kind of in love with these last two. Except I don't know if the orange is too bold on the last one, since it isn't technically one of our wedding colors. But it's still my solid favorite. What do you think?

What's New, Ketubah?

I'm still searching the internet for the perfect marriage certificate and I must say, in this regard I am jealous of the jewish brides and grooms out there. They really have the best choice of beautiful and artistic certificates called ketubahs.

The following designs are from New Ketubah and are all printed with archival ink on acid-free, fine art paper including special touches made with silk and cotton thread. Really beautiful.

Tennessee, Tennessee

After our wedding, the new Mr. and Mrs. Ford will be making a big move. Where to you ask? That, my dear friends, we are not sure of. It all depends on the graduate school acceptance letters. On the top of our list of possible new homes is the beautiful state of Tennessee.

With cooking lessons, carriage rides through orchards, wine events, yoga and natural beauty as far as the eye can see, the Blackberry Farm, located just 20 miles outside of Knoxville in the Smokey Mountains, is making Tennessee look A-OK to this bride.

Looking for a lovely domestic honeymoon locale? I think you may have found it...

Succulent Floral Boxes

Someone else was Just Married at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club! Found this cute pic via Kelly of Succulent Love Florals...


Turns out Kelly took her love of succulents, cultivated during her own wedding planning, and turned them into a business called Succulent Love. She does really beautiful centerpiece boxes, I think I will contact her.

I am so torn though. We were fairly anti-succulent from the start, but then I saw these amazing floral boxes from Artisan Events that included candles and succulents and big beautiful flowers. I really fell in love. If you have time to check out that website you will see what Im all hyped about. They are romantic and deserty but they are also simple. It's so much harder to be stunningly simple, in my opinion.



Anyhow, Kelly (remember her succulent-centric wedding at the Movie Colony Hotel in PS?) did these beautiful floral boxes above and they have me convinced that this is the direction our centerpieces will go. They are just gorgeous. I am loving the dusty miller in there too, and I think the echevarria would look beautiful with some coral peonies and some white or green hydrangea and one tall candle-holder in the middle for some romance.

Loves it!

Family Tree Wedding Programs

Remember forever ago when I said groomy and I wanted to incorporate our family histories into our wedding with a family tree? I have been searching for more good ideas of how to do this and came across this beautiful wedding program with fold-out family tree.

I think I can seriously get behind this idea! Isn't it beautiful?
