Homeward Bound

It's raining here in LA and all I want to do is curl up and cozy down.

What's makes a wedding cozily romantic? When it feels personal and intimate. Need some inspirational ways to add that homey touch?

How about a gorgeous lace, lily and rose two-tier cake that's almost too pretty to eat? A front-porch display of wine and candy apple parting gifts for you guests? Just add an explosion of rust-colored hydrangea and the guest will be drooling all the way home. Maybe fabric bunting flags to mark your table numbers? I know! Pie, lots and lots of pie.

Loving these very autumnal romantic bits from the blogosphere...

Blog Love

From 100layercake, more hanky invitations that are beyond amazing. I don't think I have time to deal with these at this point but oh how my heart yearns to.

And from GreenWeddingShoes this gorgeous farm wedding is so swoon-worthy you should really take a look. I love her bouquet, and his tan vest with grey suit is a definite idea to steal. I also particularly liked this adorable "events" sheet for guests.

Aren't pretty things wonderful?

Mismatched Maids

It seems I'm jumping on a bandwagon here, but so be it. I love the look of bridesmaids all in their own unique dress. It always seemed weird to me to see 3 (0r 8) beautiful women all dolled up in the same dress, in the same place, in the same pictures. I thought that was a huge no-no! Don't you want to be the only lady at the party in your hot little number? I suppose it does bring a theme together, and it looks very neat, and you can identify the troops but it just isn't for me.

Anyhow, I am pretty excited to allow my bridesmaids to choose their own dresses (only one has bought hers so far, GOOD WORK AIMEE), while sticking to a unified color palette. I suppose it's the color palette part that is stressing me out a bit. Of course I couldn't just choose yellow and be done with it. I had to choose coral, which can apparently be interpreted differently by different people. :)

So my only potential nightmare at this point would be if my lovely ladies clash, but then look:
So cute! No nightmare after all.

Some bridal parties go a little further than others with the level of similarity between dresses, but all in all, I think it makes for a nice effect. I also think the gals all look good when they feel good. Below, some examples... I especially love the grey. Grey is part of our wedding color palette, is it too late to switch to grey dresses? Hmmmm...

Friday Gown Showdown

Today's battle of the coral bridesmaid's dress comes from 100layercake and really, aren't they all winners? I love this.

We're off to Palm Springs for some fireworks action this weekend. Happy 4th of July!!!

You Really Got A Hold On Me

This wedding from 100layercake invaded my brain with everything from the pie table (obvs you knew we were going for that one) to the peonies (again...) to the citrus centerpieces to the motown quote button escort cards (ok, I hadn't thought of that at all but I am totally stealing it).

Also, this is the bride and groom... how cute are they?

Colors, colors, colors

And here I was, thinking that a coral and mint combo was an original idea, but alas, it's popping up all over the wedding blogs. These colors are gorgeous together and I love love love. It's really doin it for me. This amazing inspiration board from 100layercake just proves I have fantastic taste... Im thinking instead of the mocha and soft pink, I really like the idea of a blue-grey and an ivory.

In my last post about color combos, I mentioned my sad propensity for turning any palette into a rainbow... This is why I love 100layercake, they make my mistake look amazing.

The Ace Hotel is my Hero

I'm all fired up! One of my fav wedding blogs, 100layercake, recently posted a whole bloggiful shebazzle on the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. HOW AWESOME!

If you recall from my blog about our first venue scouting trip to PS, this place is so flippin rad. It is definitely our fav choice so far. As we were enjoying the world's best free old fashioned after touring the facilities, the GM came over and chatted with us for like an hour and had us laughing the whole time. Everyone there was so genuinely warm and wonderful. If we don't have our reception there we will for sure be telling you to stay there. They had us at the photobooth...

Check out the awesome pics here:
