Let's Up Do This

With straight hair, it's so much harder to find a soft, romantic wedding hair style. Alsmot everything out there involves some form of curls. And understandably so, they're so pretty and feminine. But, alas, I'm till searching for the perfect "me" hair style for our big day.

I have had some luck though. Check out this beautiful braided 'do with a side bun. I love this look, I don't know how well it would hold up for the length of the night, but I think it's very soft and relaxed but still elegant. I am kind of loving this, but also a bit afraid of how dated it could look in a few years.



This look is another version of the side bun but again, with curls. Very simple and definitely more classic. This is actually my stepmom's cousin's daughter. :) Isn't she a gorgeous bride?



For a bit more drama and pizazz, there is this final look, which I lurve. Especially with that big beautiful rose, yum! I'm not sure how a veil would fit into this number, and I would have to see the look on me, but I just think it is so romantic rocker. Lovely.


Speaking of veils. I have mine all picked out, and no you don't get to see it until the big day, BUT, I was thinking... What do you do with the veil after the ceremony? I know most people ditch the veil because it's party-time and all. But, you only have that one day to be super bride! What says bride more than a veil?!

So I looked into partyesque veil alternatives, and I came across the amazing website Tigerlily. Seriously, be warned, do not follow the link to this website unless you are planning to buy something for yourself or as a holiday gift. They have everything. Tiaras, jewelry, hair pins, veils. You will want something. I have never really been attracted to the idea of a bridal tiara, but they have such amazing earthy looks that I'm actually considering a hair vine or comb. Also, I am loving this very sweet and tiny mini-veil for a reception veil switcheroo. Isn't it adorable?


Wouldn't it be cute tucked into the side of a simple bun or twist a-la-Cameron here? Who, btw, has a very pretty light blond hair color that I am eyeballing the heck out of...

Sassy Headbands

Some outfits just need that extra oumph to really feel complete. An engagement photo-shoot ensemble might be one such outfit, and another might be a bridesmaids get-up.

Wedding Hair Dos

I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but the celebrity with whom I most closely relate hair-wise is the lovely Chloe Sevigny of Kids and Big Love fame. If you have no idea what either of those titles refer to stop everything right now and go directly to the closest video store (Do people still go to the video store? Hello, netflix!).

I say I don't know if it's a good thing or not because a) her hair is long and mostly straight but sort of does whatever it wants b) it's always a bit unkempt c) this is the best attempt the lady gives me at an up-do:

Which is truly lovely for a quick jaunt to the Emmys, but not really up to my standards for wedding day.

Thus my dilemna... When searching for pictures of cute wedding hair-dos, I constantly come across curls. I think curls are sweet and romantic, but I never curl my hair. Ever. So, does having a romantic, sweet hair-do require curls? I just dont think I can justify looking completely different on the most important day of my life.

So I still search...

I found this very cute simple up-do on a real bride from 100layercake. I just feel like it is so stylized though. I LOVE the cute side pony-tail but I feel like in 10 years I would look back and think, wow I was so 2010.

When looking through more real brides' photos on OnceWed's Ideas page I saw these three very beautiful bridal dos. Im not too sure how a veil would work with the first one and I really love the second one but it is slightly curly. I think the third one is most close to how I usually wear my hair for an event...

I thought the hair at the Emmys this year was very fresh, and great wedding insiration! I especially like the idea of the pouffy up-dos as rocked by Amy Adams (top left), Jamie Lynn Sigler (top right), and without the scary bride-of-Frankenstein dye job by Drew Barrymore (bottom middle). Im afraid any up-do that I attempt will look like Mila Kunis (bottom left) which is pretty enough but just seems a bit lazy and flat for a wedding do.

In trying to find some more pouffy-styles (is there a better way to describe that? I feel like Im talking about souffle.) I came across the following from the Beauty page on Brides.com and I must say I really like these both.

What do you think? That's a lot of hair talk, I know... I think there will be more soon. I need to figure this part out (get it?)!

Hair Dilemna

Boy do I need a haircut! I have been trying to hold out until April/May because I have so much good stuff coming up then: J's birthday, Michele's parents 50th wedding celebration, Rachel's graduation, my birthday and most importantly (for hair reasons) my friend Aimee's big day!

Whew, with all of that funness coming up, I need to get crackin on my "get finer plan" (as Lindz would say) asap. Hopefully J and I will have a photographer picked out by May and we can do our engagement photos while my hair is looking hotttttt!

These are two hair cuts I am really feeling. Although, apparently I would need to look saucy and go shirtless to really work either of these looks.
